Q: What does the theme “Perception” means?
A: What HUM project challenges me the most is the perspective I understand the word. After an investigation into the field of psychology and philosophy for my research paper, I borrow the psychology term perception as the theme of my website. Perception is the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the presented information or environment (Schacter Daniel, 2011) and involves bottom-up and top-down processing. Thus, for me perception is the fundamental step for understanding (H/h)umanities and revolution or anything we learn. I want to show my approaches in perceiving, human experience in perceiving something new, my expression of my perception and finally after all we perceive and comprehend, can we make free choices?
Q: Why is the website metaphor as a tour?
Under the paradigm of embodied cognition in perceiving, I think it is interesting to let the viewer feel the spatial of the design because perception is not an intellectual endeavor alone, but also an embodied experience that involves all kinds of sensation.
